Avanza, a Nordic bank, launched an asset management arm in 2006. They have since grown to USD 9 billion in assets under management and now have 17 of their own funds – they’ve been growing fast over the past couple of years. Both in terms of the number of funds released, but also in terms of number of employees.
Maria Wärn is the Chief Investment Officer at Avanza.
In order to continue their growth journey, Maria emphasizes they needed to find a partner that could offer them a system that was flexible and that could easily integrate with all of their current, and future unknown, service providers and systems.
It also needed to handle the full range of products they offer today and plan to offer in the future. Maria explains:
– It was important for us to find a sophisticated and modern yet flexible system, since we have a very wide range of products. We have both index funds and fund of funds for example, so to find a system where we can work with these types of products, and not lose the functionality that we have in our current solutions and excel workarounds was key for us.
With Limina, integrations with current systems are easy and to be able to modify how we work with the functionality was also of great importance.
“Limina is a modern and more flexible platform compared to a lot of its competitors.”
Avanza initiated the procurement process about a year ago, and looked for a system to decrease the operational risk as well as the dependency on single individuals. After the procurement process, the choice fell on Limina.
– Limina is a modern and more flexible platform compared to a lot of its competitors, and we felt that we are appreciated as a unique Asset Manager, with nuances that will apply only to us. That has been a great advantage for us and will be even more so in the future as we grow and expand our product offerings further, says Maria.
Maria is convinced that Limina will be an enabler for their future growth in many areas and meet both the requirements and expectations of their compliance while doing so.
– Limina will also make it easier for our external asset managers to deal with our general administration tasks, since using Limina will mean having more automated processes compared to today. We’ve been growing very fast over the last couple of years, and our plan is of course to continue growing at this pace.
That is both in terms of AUM, but also to increase the number of products. Limina will support us during this journey by decreasing the risks that come with releasing new funds, but they will also enable us to grow with economies of scale.
