How does the mutual and investment fund name generator work?
The investment and mutual fund name generator is based on the 73,000 fund names we’ve analysed. That analysis came to conclusions on when certain names are better than others. Therefore, we’ve designed the generator to allow for some input from you in a free text field.
What to consider adding in the text field and why:
- Include an investment focus, like “growth”, “value”, or a specific market cap.
- Include a geographical focus if your fund has an investment focus in a specific region
- If you want, you can define a specific asset class or industrial focus (e.g. technology or health science) – it doesn’t affect expected AuM much – assuming your fund has such a focus
- Avoid negative words like “risk”, even if used in a positive way (“low risk”), as these words correlate with lower AuM
- Don’t use acronyms; it’s correlated with significantly lower average assets
The number of words in the name is the second parameter to specify. Our analysis shows a fund name’s optimal length is 4-5 words. Even 1-6 is still ok, if you have a strong reason for a shorter or longer name. More than 6 words, and you’re significantly less likely to attract as much assets (less than half).
